Building Forensics also provides a specialist Claims Management System developed to replace fragmented, opinion-led claim handling with structured, data-driven evidence, technical oversight and auditable decision-making. The original programme identified potential claim-cost savings of up to 40% by improving investigation, selecting appropriate technical responses, controlling contractors, reducing unnecessary work and preventing repeated remediation failure.

The approach was first launched approximately 25 years ago at the Old Library, Lloyd’s of London, by Jeff Charlton, founding chairman and sole original sponsor of the British Damage Management Association. Despite the financial and technical benefits presented at the time, the programme met significant industry resistance where greater competence, accountability, training and transparent performance measurement challenged established claims practices.

The current Claims Management System develops that original concept into an integrated digital platform supporting claim triage, technical review, competence assessment, contractor control, remediation monitoring, verification, evidence retention and management reporting. It can also incorporate live SATELEYE™ monitoring during drying, providing evidence of temperature, relative humidity, specific humidity, dew-point risk and changing moisture conditions. This can help identify inadequate drying controls, emerging secondary damage, delayed intervention and conditions likely to increase claim duration or cost.
